Do you just use first initial and last name like they do at work, or is there something deeper?
Back in October of 1989 I was on a family vacation to Maui. I decided to spend the day doing some photography in Honolulu, so I took a taxi over to the local airport and hopped on board a little inter island commuter flight on one of my favorite aircraft, the De Havilland Canada DHC-6. As it turned out, all of my flights on that day were on the same aircraft, the one pictured above, N707PV, and I took it as some sort of sign. The ‘707' part was honestly nothing more than the fact that this was the 7th aircraft in the fleet. The ‘PV’ part came from Princeville Airways, the airline that eventually became Aloha Island Air. It didn’t hurt that the number ‘707' is legendary in the aviation world, and so this became ‘my’ plane.
A few days later a rather inexperienced pilot flew this very aircraft into IMC (instrument meteorological conditions) whilst on a VFR flight and crashed into the side of a mountain on Molokai. ‘Damaged beyond repair’ is what the official NTSB report says about the fate of this particular aircraft. Yeah, a splat into the side of a cliff at cruising speed will cause a bit of damage, perhaps some that isn’t repairable. Had I waited a little while to take this day trip that might have been me on the final flight.
Ever since then I’ve used N707PV as my email account name as a reminder of what happened 27 years ago. It also reminds me that things can happen that are beyond our control and not to forget that any minute may turn out to be our last.

Two of my emails are the same thing, one at Yahoo and one at Gmail. The username is...a bit complicated to explain, as it refers to two nicknames I had in high school, with the year of my birth at the end. The Yahoo one dates to 2001 or so, and is thus my primary one. The Gmail I use for personal contacts. I also have a second Gmail that’s just first.middle.lastname. I use that when applying to jobs because it looks more professional.

Mine is firstname.lastname@gmail.com and @outlook.com. I think it works better for resumes and the like. My junk account is kelphead@yahoo.com. kelphead is a surfer term for someone that doesn’t know how to surf. Get it surfing the internet. It was way funnier to me back when it was an @compuserve address.

Just first two initials and last name. The only interesting thing about it is there is a guy with the same setup, different email provider (yahoo or something) who keeps accidentally forgetting that the gmail version of that setup isn’t his - and he gives out the gmail version to a LOT of importantish people. I’ve gotten construction estimates, boat purchase info, emails from doctors and lawyers, every Verizon email (that one took forever to clear up). I could steal this guy’s identity in a heartbeat and he has absolutely no idea who I am.

In the ‘90s, when I worked at Hughes Aircraft as a network admin, the proxy server that was our gateway to the ‘net was appropriately named ‘Kahanamoku’. The non-surfers in the group had no idea why it had that name and had a damned hard time spelling it, but those of us that were groms back in the day loved it.
I still remember my original CompuServe address from back when it was all numeric - 71223,2155. Damn I’m old...

I loaned my bicycle to my dad years ago. He asked the significance of the combo on the lock (5369) and I had to explain that the 5 was for the 5 series I drove, the 3 was for the 3 series I was prepping for autocrossing, and that the 69 was for my girlfriend’s favorite position...

At Hughes there was a co-worker that had the same first and middle initial as me along with the same last name. Since he was there first he got the email address that started with ‘rmstevens’ whilst I was ‘rmstevens1'. Just to simplify life a little I just started using ‘rmstevens1' on just about everything, and I think that, 18 years on, it’s still my eBay user name.

My internet identity is blunion05. That’s my username for everything! Except for on college logins. Google blunion05, you’ll see everything about my online life.
As a result, I use complex passwords that are all different for my primary email, banking, and college logins accounts as well as on sites that have connections or stored info to making payment methods like PayPal and Amazon.
For all other accounts that are not important to my wellbeing, including non-primary emails and social media, I use the same, password (though it is medium complex). Recently, due to many websites updating their password security which requires the use of all various characters, I’ve had to maintain a second password for my unimportant accounts.
None of my passwords use words that exist in a dictionary.

My email is my name. My name is of significance in certain bars and Bahn Mi places. Other than that, it is of no significance.

Firstname.middleinitial.lastname@gmail.com
I chose this for simplicity... yet it somehow manages to cause a great deal of confusion.
